Job Description: Gateway Area Development District seeks a candidate for the part-time position of Senior Center Director at its Montgomery County location (up to 32 hours per week). The Senior Center Director will provide services funded through the Older Americans Act (OAA) and be recognized as a community focal point that serves as a gateway in connecting older adults to community services. In doing so, the candidate must be knowledgeable in related polices for Title III programs; and must follow and document procedures accurately. The candidate will relate well with older persons and encourage the use of the services and activities available to enhance their quality of life. They will seek community partnerships and coordinate involvement within the Center. The candidate will recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. They must collect and keep up-to-date confidential and accurate records, maintain client files, and enter data into the state tracking system, SAMS. Creates and displays a monthly Calendar of Events and provides an activities program on a daily basis. Provides and conducts a plan of programs appropriate to the needs of the senior citizens that includes, but is not limited to: nutritional programs, healthy promotion, group social programs, indoor and outdoor recreational activities and programming away from the senior center facility. Additional duties include: create activities such as arts, crafts, music, drama, educational programs, and exercise activities. This position will ensure the Center is open, clean, and ready to operate as scheduled. Responsible for counting daily donations made to the center. Complete bus/van routes if center driver is not available. Attends trainings and meetings as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Strong communication, social, organizational, and computer skills. Must be able to travel locally if necessary, participate in recreational outings, work some evenings, and weekends. Experience working with older persons is preferred but not required. Valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
